WHMIS has changed. The new program, WHMIS 2015, incorporates the GHS. There are new hazard classes and new standardized requirements for labels and safety data sheets. WHMIS education and training are still required.
Workers require both WHMIS education and worksite specific training.
Education
Education teaches workers the principles of WHMIS, and the meaning of the information on labels and safety data sheets (SDSs formerly MSDSs). Generic WHMIS education can apply to any workplace.
Training
Workplace-specific training teaches workers how to work safely with hazardous products at a worksite. Training is specific to a workplace. An inspector may confirm training by asking:
